Creative Culinary Tourism in Action: BASCIL Partners Meet in Gdańsk to Share and Inspire

From June 3 to 5, 2025, BASCIL partners gathered in Gdańsk, Poland. The project is financed from the Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2021–2027 programme project BASCIL - Innovative Solutions for the Rural Food Production Sector to Diversify into Sustainable Culinary Tourism Services. Hosted by the Pomorskie Regional Tourist Organization, the event featured combined strategic project discussions with immersive local field experiences.

The meeting focused primarily on the progress of Work Package 3 (WP3), dedicated to the dissemination and transfer of project results. During dedicated workshop sessions, partners reviewed the newly prepared publication “Practical Solutions for Developing Culinary Tourism Services for Local Food Producers in the Baltic Sea Region.” The manual brings together a collection of inspiring success stories and offers a comprehensive guide to fostering culinary tourism innovation. The cover of the publication features one of the products developed during the project by the creative Lithuanian food artisan Sigita Malinauskienė as part of the culinary route “Old-New Flavours”, offering a unique “Beetroot Paradise” menu for tasting. The publication will soon be made available online in Lithuanian and other languages to benefit stakeholders across the Baltic Sea region and beyond.

Partners also shared updates on dissemination efforts and exchanged feedback from pilot regions. Key discussions addressed the planning of the final project event to be held in Sweden later this year, as well as the coordination of joint communication initiatives, including video storytelling, the promotion of success cases, and the development of evaluation criteria for the piloting phase scheduled for August 2025.

The event also provided an opportunity to experience firsthand how local producers are blending traditional knowledge with creative entrepreneurship to develop innovative culinary tourism products. The field program highlighted the rich culinary and cultural heritage of the Pomerania region - an area where several initiatives have advanced thanks to BASCIL support. The event created favourable conditions for knowledge exchange, continued cooperation, and further strengthening the impact of the BASCIL project.
