Monika Belhaj, a researcher at the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences, Institute of Economics and Rural Development, participated in the international conference DSOTT’25 – “Diversity and Sustainability: Opportunities and Threats in Tourism”, held on 4–6 June 2025 in Coimbra, Portugal. The event brought together around 200 researchers and practitioners from various countries to discuss the latest trends and challenges related to tourism, sustainability, diversity, and innovation.
During the conference, Monika delivered a presentation entitled “The Green Dilemma: Sustainability Challenges in Lithuanian Hospitality”, in which she presented the findings of a study on corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices in Lithuania’s hotel sector. Her presentation highlighted key insights into the implementation of CSR in small tourism markets, contributing to broader discussions on sustainable hospitality management and responsible business practices.
The conference was notable for its interdisciplinary approach and excellent opportunities for professional networking. One of the most engaging parts of the programme was the speed-dating sessions with editors-in-chief of high-ranking academic journals. During these sessions, Monika discussed potential avenues for peer reviewing and publishing scientific articles and received valuable feedback regarding future research directions.
Participation in DSOTT’25 significantly contributed to enhancing the international visibility of Lithuanian research and strengthened professional ties with the global academic community, paving the way for future collaboration in joint projects and publications.
