The Lithuanian Food Industry Association organized a conference on 20 November 2025 titled “Food Products: To Consume or To Throw Away? Where Will We Put the Comma?”
The event brought together representatives from business and academia to discuss how stakeholders across Lithuania’s food supply chain are preparing to meet the goals set out in the European Union Council’s Waste Framework Directive, which aims to significantly reduce food waste by 2030.
During a panel discussion, Dr. Rasa Melnikienė, Head of the LSMC Institute of Economics and Rural Development, outlined the key challenges Lithuania faces in tackling food waste. She also presented insights and ideas that could help households across the country reduce food waste more effectively.
