Peculiarities of the agrarian reform in supporting Russian agriculture are presented in the study, indicating that agrarian reforms were most successfully implemented when supported financially by the state. The study analyses the situation of Russian agriculture over the recent years twenty when agricultural production was actually not supported from the state budget funds, revealing negative consequences of such agrarian policy. The exigency of state support is reasoned in the study, defining the scope of the need for support, providing recommendations on support methods, giving priority to direct state budget payments for producers of agricultural products and for the system of soft loans.
