Evaluation of the effectiveness of the state support for organic farming (in Lithuanian language)

This research is funded by the European Social Fundunder the Global Grant measure. Organic farming contributes to sustainable development. In order to achieve the objectives of organic farming, appropriate policy measures should be implemented. The most important policy measure is compensatory payments. The major problems of organic farming in Lithuania arise mainly due to this measure. Compensatory payments are not sufficient to convert the whole farm into organic farming system, and to increase supply of organic products. The aim of this paper is to provide the proposals for improving the effectiveness of support for organic farming in the 2014-2020 programming period. The comparative analysis and generalization was employed to describe organic farming support systems in Ireland, Estonia and Poland, whereas statistical data analysis, comparative analysis and generalization was employed to present the proposals for improving the effectiveness of support for organic farming in the 2014-2020 programming period.
