Evaluation of the EU accession impact for the agri food sector of the new member states (In Lithuanian language)

The EU accession impacts for the agriculture and agri food sector of the new member states were analyzed in this article. Countries have made an important step to join EU market. It was expected, that EU integration will solve internal problems, such as growing unemployment, increasing inflation and decreasing volume of production. Here was presented an overview of economic developments pre-Accession and post-Accession in the agricultural and agri food sectors of the twelve New Member States. The most significant developments both pre- and post-EU Accession were identified. The article shows where the accession may have had an impact. Study was made on the changes of main economic indicators, on the accession impact on agricultural
and agri food sectors, other changes were identified. In spite of accession benefits, a number of unexpected consequences and structural weaknesses of the agricultural sector were identified.
