In order to keep rural areas in Lithuania vital, it is important to direct measures of rural policy more towards the needs of youth. In this paper the methods and the results of the research performed by Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics are presented. The aim of the research was to identify and evaluate the level of involvement of young rural inhabitants in the processes of rural development. The aspect of youth involvement was evaluated in the context of Lithuanian rural development policy. Scientific method and result of the research: using structural interviews, factors determining the participation of young rural inhabitants in the assimilation of EU financial support were identified.
