Land abandonement: problems, possible solutions (in Lithuanian language)

Lithuania today is seeing a lot of unused, abandoned land, which started to grow weeds, shrubs, trees. This land is not used for agricultural or forest production, the landscape is poor, the image of the country is suffering. The Government Program for 2008-2012 recognized the importance of abandoned land issue by deciding to develop abandoned land program. This article is part of the work carried out to prepare the said program. The aim of the article is to submit proposals for abandoned land faster return to economic activity, to propose the administrative and managerial tools. This article presents part of study carried out by the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics in 2010 related to the definition of abandoned land problem analysis, the dynamics of abandoned land in different regions of Lithuania, the legal and institutional environment in the administration of the abandoned land, as well as proposals to accelerate the return to economic activity processes.
