Study of the depopulation assumptions of the Lithuanian regions (in Lithuanian language)

Fundamental component of any regional development is human capital, and the measure of competitiveness - the ability to attract human resources. This study looked at one aspect of human capital - the region's population change in 2004-2010. Municipalities were examined by three factors: internal and international migration and natural population change. Migration is widely considered the subject of research in all countries. More frequently, the implications and impact of migration, the less the reasons and motives. Work indicates that the main motivating factor for migration - economic benefits. Subsequent theories releases other factors affecting migration: economic, political and legal, social and cultural, psychological, security, geography, etc. In this paper, we looked at migration from a different angle than is usual. Study aimed to look at how demographic processes (not economic and not social) could be factors contributing to migrate, which were analyzed as a human choice to relocate work factors, one of which, perhaps, not consciously, are influenced by how it works in the environment, people age, their distribution in the living area, a central living area size of the city. Studies have shown the strong link between migration and the area's aging population, its dynamics, population density and size of the central city of the region concern.
