The economic impact evaluation model of the use of genetically modified organisms in agriculture and food (in Lithuanian language)

In manufacture of GMOs the requirements of coexistence and product un-mixture have been introduced in the EU. Meeting of the set requirements is an expensive and as well as efforts and time consuming process. Currently, EU Member states are capacitated to allow or prohibit the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) plants within their confines. In this situation, the assessment of economic impact of GMOs use at the national level is utmost importance. Evaluation modeling of the economic impact of GMOs use in manufacturing has been started only during the recent years. The requirements of the GMOs and non GMOs coexistence and products admixture result in the administrative activities of public institutions. These are cost generating activities. Accounting and allocation of these costs is a pending yet unsolved problem in dealing with the scientific issues of economic.
The aim of article is to develop a model of evaluation of an economic impact of the GMOs use in the manufacturing process in agricultural and food sectors. The model needs to be based on GMOS` manufacturing processes and allocation of administrative costs. Algorithm of accounting of financial results driven from GMOs manufacturing is also included in the article. The research methods are analogies, logical comparison and deduction, the scientific literature and information analysis. Also value chain, activity based costing and benefit-costs methods are used.
The results presented by the article contain the following: the economic impact assessment model of GMOs manufacturing, which gives information about the way of GMOs use in production making impact on processes and individual producers' incomes and costs than administrative costs are allocated. The schemes of GMOs manufacturing processes are established following the legislative and normative framework of Lithuania. Value chain approach is used to formulate manufacturing processes of GMOs. Using activity based costing and benefit-costs methods the universal algorithm of the financial results accounting is produced.

Key words: Activity based costing, assessment of economic impact, financial results accounting algorithm, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), genetically modified products (GMP), use of GMOs in the manufacturing process, value chain.
