Development of Organic Agriculture: Maintaining Biodiversity and Mitigating Consequences of Ecocide

During implementation of the project, development of the organic farming in Ukraine and Lithuania was assessed. Also, the attention was paid to Ukraine-EU trade in organic agrifood products. The research focused on biodiversity conservation as one of the main goals for organic agriculture. The carried-out systemic literature review allowed one to outline the major directions for development of the organic farming that would contribute towards conservation of biodiversity. In addition, the support measures for organic farming applied in Lithuania were summarized. This will allow devising effective policy measures for the case of Ukraine. A research paper has been published in an international journal which addresses the trends and perspectives in the Ukrainian-EU trade in organic agrifood products. Finally, a framework for quantitative and qualitative research Ukraine has been established. The research is funded by the Research Council of Lithuania (Grant No. S-LU-24-1).
